dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research was to study the ability of Salmonella sp. to form biofilm on the surface of stainless steel, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and buna-n rubber on 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours using media 1/5 TSB and to study the effect of food matrix on the biofilm density using 1/5 TSB added casein, milk, and infant formula. Biofilm density was determined using the swab method and followed by fertilization using TSA. Biofilm density of S. Typhimurium and S. Enteritidis experience optimum formation on 48 hours and then decreased at 72 hours. The rate of biofilm formation of S. Enteritidis is higher than S. Typhimurium. The rate of formation of S. Typhimurium is the highest on the surface of stainless steel, while the S. Enteritidis on the surface of PTFE. The addition of casein in 1/5 TSB and the presence of food matrix on milk and milk formula shows the results of varying biofilm density of S. Typhimurium and S. Enteritidis compared to 1/5 TSB, but the food matrix on infant formula can reduce biofilm density of S. Typhimurium.en
