| dc.description.abstract | The prevalence of obesity continues to increase, including in childhood, not only in urban areas (10.4%) but also in rural areas (8.1%). The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between the pattern of food consumption and physical activity of elementary school children with overweight and obese status in urban and rural areas of Bogor. The research was conducted by applying a cross sectional study design. Subjects consist of 60 elementary school children of 4th and 5th graders in SDN Polisi 5 and SDN Babakan Dramaga 4, that had overweight and obese status, and in good health. Data was collected include child and family characteristics, patterns of consumption and physical activity. The average z-score (BMI/A), energy intake, protein intake and fat intake was higher in urban areas than in rural areas, whereas intake of carbohydrates was lower in urban than rural. The majority of physical activity in urban areas and rural were in the mild category. Family income, age of parents and children allowance of urban area were higher significantly (p<0.05) than rural area. There were a significant correlation between maternal nutritional status (p=0.040, r=0.266), energy intake (p=0.000, r=0.505), protein intake (p=0.003, r=0.381), and fat intake (p=0.001, r=0.426) with overweight and obese status of children. | en |
