dc.description.abstractThis study was aimed to examine the relationship between nutrition and food safety knowledge and snack habit among elementary school children in SDN Sukadamai 03 Bogor as represent high social economic status (SES) and SDN Situgede 04 Bogor represent low SES. This research was a cross-sectional study involving 283 students. Data collection using self administered quesstionnaire. The results show that children with low category of nutrition knowledge in high SES (19.9%) is lower than that in low SES (62.2%), while for food safety knowledge, no high SES children was found with low category whereas in low SES were 11.8%. Snack food commonly eaten by children in both SES were extrudat products. Number of kind snacks consumed by low SES children were higher (>7) than that of high SES (5-7). Nutritional status of most children in both SES were normal. Contribution of snack to energy and nutrients intake ranged from 8.6% (vitamin C) to 15% (energy) while the contribution to energy and nutrients adequacy were ranged from 7.2% (vitamnin C) to 16.1% (calcium). Correlation analysis showed significant relationship between nutrition knowledge, food safety knowledge and snack habits with amount of pocket money (p<0.05), nutritional status (p<0.05) and father and mother education (p<0.05).en
