People in the mountainous region generally less consume food source of iodine and highly consume goitrogenic food. The pattern of the food consumption can reduce iodine status of people and further cause IDD (Iodine Defficiency Disorders). The general objective of this research was to analyze correlation between consumption habits of iodine source and goitrogenic and iodine status among elementary school children in mountainous areas in Cianjur district. Samples are elementary school children grade 5th or 4th aged 9 to 14 years; and the mothers of the children. This research was conducted in May to October 2012 used cross sectional design in 3 sub-districts of Cianjur District, West Java. Primary data consisted of food consumption, anthropometry, and iodine urine, whereas secondary data consisted of characteristics of Cianjur. The study showed that there was significant correlation between iodine total intake and the level of UIE (p<0.05, r=0.179), but there were no correlation between the frequency of goitrogenic food consumption and the level of UIE, and between the total intake of cyanide and the level of UIE (p>0.05).en
