dc.description.abstractGreen tea is widely consumed both in Asian and Western countries. Many beneficial effects of green tea are related to its catechin, particularly (-)- epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) content. The present study was aimed at providing evidence of improvement on glucose metabolism in healthy humans upon green tea beverage consumption in various levels of EGCG (0, 100, and 200 mg EGCG). This study showed that introducing of 100 and 200 mg EGCG reduced increased blood glucose level on healthy humans (p<0,05). Repeated ANOVA showed that treatments given were significantly affect blood glucose response for each minutes of observation (p=0.002). The ANOVA showed that treatments given were significantly affect AUC (area under curve) value (p=0.006) and glucose score (p=0.006). There were significant difference of AUC value (p=0.02) and glucose score (p=0.002) between 0 mg EGCG (control) and 100 mg EGCG group. Likewise, there were significant difference of AUC value (p=0.002) and glucose score (p=0.018) between 0 mg EGCG (control) and 200 mg EGCG group. Although AUC value and glucose score of 200 mg EGCG group were lower than 100 mg EGCG group, but there were no significant difference in between (p=0.287 and p=0.33, respectively). The clinical value on lowering blood glucose showed that subjects in 100 and 200 mg EGCG groups had relative risk value 0.4-0.7 and 0.3-0.7 compared to the control group respectively. When EGCG consumed by body, then the number of hyperglycaemia incidence could be reduced by 40-60% and 30-70% from the previous incidence respectively, while difference between numbers of hyperglycaemia incidence were 40-60% and 30-70% between subjects who received 100 and 200 mg EGCG compared to the control group respectively.en
