This study aimed to examine the effects of objective economic pressure, religiosity, and coping strategies on the subjective well-being of scavenger families in Kampung Pemulung Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, involving 58 wives from intact scavenger families who were Muslim and had dependent children. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Pearson correlation test, the Mann–Whitney U test, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Wife's age and per capita income were negatively related to objective economic pressure, while wives who worked outside scavenging activities had higher economic and psychological subjective well-being. Objective economic pressure had no significant effect on coping strategies, religiosity, or subjective well-being, whereas religiosity and coping strategies each had a significant positive effect on subjective well-being, with coping strategies partially mediating the effect of religiosity. These findings indicate that the subjective well-being of scavenger families was determined by religiosity and coping strategies.
