Poor emotional regulation in children can increase the risk of emotional problems. This study analyzed the effects of parenting stress and fathers’ emotion styles on the emotional regulation of school-aged children using a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach and a self-administered questionnaire administered to 81 father-mother pairs with children in grades 1–3 at Hambalang 02 and 04 Public Elementary Schools in Bogor Regency. The results showed that parenting stress, adaptive emotional regulation, and children’s emotional lability fell into the moderate category, with feelings of uncertainty classified as low and other dimensions of emotional style as moderate. Children’s birth order being a younger sibling—was associated with lower parental acceptance, while a father’s higher level of education was associated with higher use of emotional coaching and lower feelings of uncertainty. Higher parenting stress is associated with lower emotion coaching and higher feelings of uncertainty. Additionally, the father’s working hours and parental rejection have a positive effect on children’s emotional lability, meaning that both factors contribute to increasing children’s emotional lability.
