Extraction residues from natural materials are generally underutilized despite still containing bioactive compounds with potential added value. This project aimed to develop a body scrub formulation based on Eclipta alba and Camellia sinensis extraction residues and to evaluate its physical and functional characteristics. Product development was carried out using an engineering design approach consisting of problem exploration, problem definition, ideation, prototype development, and validation stages. Validation included organoleptic evaluation, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesiveness, stability, total phenolic content, radical scavenging activity, hedonic testing, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed that all formulations produced homogeneous preparations with pH values of 6.61–6.76, spreadability of 3.2–3.7 cm, and adhesiveness of 8.37–11.71 seconds, meeting the predetermined design specifications. PCA identified F4, containing 9% green tea residue, 2% green tea extract, and 0.5% Eclipta alba extract, as the best formulation, with a total phenolic content of 0.2572 mg GAE/g, radical scavenging activity of 75.79%, and the highest panelist acceptance. These findings demonstrate that extraction residues have potential as natural exfoliants and functional ingredients for value-added cosmetic products.
