| dc.description.abstract | Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that persists in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 21.5%. Stunting not only impairs physical and mental development but also decreases productivity and increases the risk of metabolic diseases in the future. The incidence of stunting is closely related to the quality and quantity of the population's food consumption. This study aims to analyze the factors related to food consumption and their relationship with stunting prevalence in 34 provinces across Indonesia. This study uses secondary data, including per capita Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), food expenditure, poverty rate, Human Development Index (HDI), energy adequacy level, protein adequacy level, a hopeful food pattern (HFP) score, and stunting prevalence. The data were processed and analyzed quantitatively using a descriptive exploratory method and Spearman's rank correlation. The results of this study show that the economic situation, welfare levels, and food consumption of the population in the 34 provinces of Indonesia vary. The Spearman's rank correlation test results show that per capita food expenditure has a significant positive correlation with the protein adequacy level (r=0.443; p=0.009). The poverty rate has a significant negative correlation with the energy adequacy level (r=-0.369; p=0.032) and the protein adequacy level (r=-0.564; p=0.001). The HDI has a strong and significant positive correlation with the energy adequacy level (r=0.433; p=0.011), the protein adequacy level (r=0.616; p=0.000), and the HFP score (r=0.586; p=0.000). The protein adequacy level shows a significant negative correlation (r=-0.365; p=0.034) with stunting prevalence, while the HFP score has the strongest negative correlation (r=-0.662; p=0.000) with stunting prevalence. | |
