      Abstract
With the rising production and consumption of instant noodle, this quantitative research analyzes and compares consumer ethnocentrism and its effect on instant noodle preferences among university students in Indonesia and South Korea. The study utilized a survey with questionnaire distributed to 60 respondents — 30 from IPB University, Indonesia and 30 from Jeonbuk National University, South Korea. Results from the analysis show that the average ethnocentrism score for Indonesian students (53.8) falls into a moderate range, which is significantly higher compared to Korea students (29.9) whose score falls into a low range. Statistical analyses included t-test, ANOVA test, chi-square/fisher’s exact tests and binary logistic regression. Analysis on socio-demographic factors such as age, hometown showed no significant correlation with ethnocentrism in both countries. While monthly expenses also showed no consistent correlation, gender was found to be a significant factor in Korea. Furthermore, logistic regression analysis demonstrated that while ethnocentrism has a positive influence on the instant noodle preference, it is not statistically significant for both student groups. The low R2 values, 1.7% for Indonesia and 12.8% for Korea, shows that ethnocentrism is not a dominant factor determining instant noodle preferences.
