      Abstract

The high cost of standard laboratory feed has driven the use of bread waste as an alternative feed for white rats (Rattus norvegicus). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of mixed feed formulations using pig feed and bread waste on growth performance and feed residue. The experiment consisted of five treatments with varying ratios of pig feed and bread waste, ranging from 100% pig feed to 70% bread waste. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Duncan's test. Results indicated that increasing the proportion of bread waste significantly (P<0.05) improved average daily weight gain from 3.5 g day-1 to 4.3 g day-1. These findings suggest that bread waste-based feed formulations can enhance growth efficiency, providing a cost-effective and sustainable feeding strategy.
