A System Development for Technology Assessment Based on Technology Readiness Level
Abstract
Research innovation and product development from many researchers has not been
fully transferred into marketplace or just ended up as stacked documents and useless for
public. This occurs because of problems in the process of technology transfer of
innovation research that are intermediate and premature introduction of new technologies
even thought it is not ready to enter the market. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is a
method of systematic measurement that supports the assessment of maturity or readiness
of a particular technology. Problems in the technology transfer process can be resolved if
at the stage of technology transfer supports with an objective assessment of technology
using TRL to know the technology is ready or not to be commercialized. This study aims
to analyze the mechanism of business process for the transfer of technology in PT Y as a
case study and design and develop a technology assessment system for product
commercialization at PT Y. Analysis of business process mechanism for technology
transfer is done by Business Process Modeling and Notation 2.0 (BPMN 2.0), which will
further develop technology assessment system based on business processes on BPMN 2.0.
Technology assessment is done using TRL with Interval Type 2 Fuzzy Systems
calculation method. The results of the evaluation of the system obtained from the
assessment of three innovations product at PT Y showed that product "Beras Analog" is
at level 9, product "Enzim" is at level 5, and product "Transporter" is at level 9.
