| dc.description.abstract | Rabbits have potential to be developed as meat producer. Rabbit is palatable with almost every roughage, even market waste such as bean sprouts’ waste. Bean sprouts’ waste contains of 13.26% protein and 64.5% TDN. The aim of this research was to evaluate carcass and non carcass composition of male local rabbit age 12 weeks fed with bean sprouts’ waste. Measured variables were slaughter weight, empty body weight, hot carcass weight, cold carcass weight, commercial cuts, carcass composition weight, carcass and commercial cuts proportion, non carcass weight and percentage. This study used 12 male local rabbit fryer with average weight 747±104.543 g. The rabbits reared as long as 12 weeks and slaughtered at age of 6 months. This study used completely randomized design. There were 3 treatments that consisted of 100% of commercial feed (P0), 70% of commercial feed+30% of bean sprouts’ waste (P1), and 50% of commercial feed+50% of bean sprouts’ waste (P2). The data was analysed using ANCOVA with empty body weight and hot carcass weight as covariables. Results showed that the addition of bean sprouts’ waste causing non carcass weight, stomach and hindleg commercial cut weight and percentage were higher than without the addition of bean sprouts’ waste. Addition of bean sprouts’ waste had no effect on slaughter weight, empty body weight, and carcass weight. In conclusion, bean sprouts’ waste can be added fresh to rabbit feed up to 50% in substitute of commercial feed. | en |
