Chickens need a cool ambient rearing temperature. Rearing chickens in open house on tropical regions such as Indonesia can cause physiological changes. Physiological conditions can be seen from the blood profile. Normal blood profile will support the achievement of optimal production. The aim of this research was to study the blood profile and its association with production aspect on kampung chicken and laying hen that were reared in open house . Blood profile parameters were including the number of erythrocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin, leucocytes, and the percentage H/L ratio. Production performance parameters were feed intake, hen day production, egg weight, feed conversion, and mortality. The number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, leucocytes of kampung chicken and laying hen were included in the normal range. H/L ratio of kampung chicken (1.45) was lower than laying hen (4.09). Feed consumption, hen day production, egg weight of kampung chicken were appropiate to standards, although its performance was lower than the laying hen. It can be concluded that kampung chicken better adapt than the laying hen, if it reared in open house with high ambient temperature
