Performa Reproduksi pada Induk Babi di PT Maharkata Farm Sukses Kabupaten Karo Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Reproductive performance needs special attention from farmers, in order to increase litter size number. This research aim to study the reproductive performance of sows. Sixty sows (40 heads secondary and 20 heads were primer data randomly used as a sample) belong to PT Maharkata Farm Sukses. The reproductive performance evaluate were age at first mating, litter size and interval between birth (calving interval) parity and birth weight. The result showed that there were no significantly different on the age of the first mating, number of litter size as well as calving interval of landrace and yorkshire landrace cross breed. The age of first mating were between 237.44±33.82 and 239.95±27.03 days. The litter size between 8.72±2.59 and 7.89±2.37 piglet respectively. The calving interval were 151.06±6.30 and 157.68±20.14 days. The result was also found that there were no difference between number of parity with litter size as well as litter size with birth weight.
