Meat from younger lamb is more desirable than that from older lamb. The objective this study was to investigate the effect of breed from local sheep on carcass tissue composition and distribution within wholesale cuts. The experiment used four Garut and four Thin Tail lamb aged three months old. They were fattened for three month with pelleted ration comprising 30% Indigofera sp. and 70% concentrate. The results showed that carcass composition and distribution within wholesale cuts were similar between Garut and Thin Tail lamb. Garut lamb carcass had significantly higher twelveth rib fat thickness than that from Thin Tail lamb carcass. The results of this study indicate that Garut and Thin tail lamb had a meat yield, fat, and bone percentages of 62.48%, 13.62%, and 23.89% respectively. Garut sheep had significantly higher (P <0.05) back fat thicknesethan the thin tail lamb. The meatfrom the “breast” and “shank”cut were significantly higher (P <0.05) in Garut lamb compared Thin Tail lamb.en
