dc.description.abstract | The improvement of feed quality and raising management can increase the sheep performance. Nowadays, the availability of feed such as good quality grass is relatively expensive; therefore, there should be an alternative feed in place of grass. This research aimed to test the performance of male Garut sheep aged less than one year which was fed by bean sprout waste and dried kangkung as alternative feed. The raising time was two months. The feed treatment consisted of P0 (50% grass and 50% concentrate), (50% bean sprout waste and 50% concentrate), and (50% dried and 50% concentrate). The parameters observed were Daily Weight Gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, and palatability. This study used complete by random design using feed factors. The data analysis used was ANOVA test, and if significantly influenced, Duncan test would be carried out. The research result showed that different kinds of feed did not have a significant effect on Daily Weight Gain and feed efficiency. However, it had a significant effect on feed consumption and palatability. Based on this research, it can be concluded that in general alternative feeds in form of bean sprout waste and dried kangkung can replace grass since the nutrition content is almost the same and generates similar Daily Weight Gain. | en |
