Processing Tapioca Wastewater Using Dairy Manure by Anaerobic System
Pengolahan Limbah Cair Tapioka Menggunakan Kotoran Sapi Perah dengan Sistem Anaerobik.
Abstract
The objective of this research was to study the effect of dairy manure on tapioca wastewater characteristics such as total solid (TS), pH, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and cyanide prepared using anaerobic digester system for 30 days. The waste and dairy manure were combined in the ratios 100%:0%, 90%:10%, 80%:20%, 70%:30% and 60%:40%. The result showed that dairy manure addition in cassava wastewater influenced pH, COD and TS but did not Cyanide. When inoculated with dairy manure, tapioca wastewater obtained indicated increasing on TS and COD. Overall results indicated that the best treatment in this research is combination between waste and dairy manure in the ratio 70% tapioca wastewater and 30% dairy manure to process tapioca wastewater before release at water area. Industri pengolahan singkong menjadi tepung tapioka dalam proses produksinya akan menghasilkan limbah, baik berupa cair, padat maupun gas. Limbah-limbah ini apabila tidak dilakukan penanganan secara khusus berpotensi untuk mencemari lingkungan terutama masih adanya kandungan bahan organik dalam bahan. Limbah cair tapioka terutama berasal dari proses pencucian serta pengendapan sehingga masih banyak mengandung bahan-bahan organik yang cukup tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi perbandingan yang optimal antara kotoran sapi perah dengan limbah cair tapioka dalam menurunkan beban pencemaran limbah cair tapioka.
