Swamp buffalo is commonly regarded as an animal with relatively low productivity. The objective of the study was to examine the meat yield and it’s distribution within carcass from Swamp buffalo and Ongole Grade cattle fed concentrate containing protected lemuru fish oil in the form of dry carboxylate salt mixture (DCM). Fourteen animal were used in the study comparising eight Ongole Grade cattle and six Swamp buffalo. Each group of animal was allotted to control ration and control ration plus DCM. They were set up in a factorial design with species and ration as the factors. The result showed that administration of protected lemuru fish oil in the ration did not obviously influence meat yield and each distribution carcass. However Swamp buffalo had significantly higher slaughter weight but lower carcass weight (P<0,05). The Swamp buffalo carcass yield were significantly lower weight of striploin, tenderloin, silverside and topside if compared to Ongole Grade cattle.en
