| dc.description.abstract | The objectives of this study were: I) to dcscribe the characteristic and external factors of sheep farmers at Barengkok village 2) to anal competency of sheep farmers at Barengkok village 3) to analyze correlation between characteristic and external factors of sheep farmers at Barengkok village. This study was conducted on Juni 2008 at Barengkok village. The amount of respondent was 60 farmers at Barengkok village. Primary data was obtained by of questionnaire and interview. Secondary data was obtained from relevant institutions sources. Data were analyzed by descriptive analyze and correlation analyze using rank Spearman and Chi square test. The result of study showed: 1) most farmers were young, less educated, have experience about having livestock are few, ownership of livestock are few, level of medium earning. Most farmers were never frequency of farmers in getting information about sheep farming operation, both newspaper, magazine, radio and television. Sheep farmer never makes interpersonal relation by people who provides elucidation but peer of the farmers. 2) technical competency and management competency of sheep farmer were few but technical competency of sheep farmer better than management competency of sheep farmer. 3) sheep farmers characteristics has high significant correlation at the education of farmers and income of farmers with technical competency and management competency of sheep farmers.
