Abstract

Indonesia racehorse is a domestic animal results of grading up between local mares with Thoroughbred stallion to get a better Indonesia racehorse. Selection of running performance racehorse in Indonesia needs to be done in order to get a racehorse that has good running ability. Performance of Indonesia Racehorse can be estimated by the running speed and ability to maintain these properties. The value of ability to maintain the running speed data used to estimate the ripitability value. The data of running speed at different distances (1200 m, 1400 m, and 1600 m) in each race which was obtained from racing record in PORDASI (Persatuan Olahraga Berkuda Seluruh Indonesia) competition for twelve years, were used to calculated the value of ability to maintain a running speed. Estimated ripitability value used to calculate the value of MPPA (Most Probable Producing Ability). Estimated ripitability of ability to maintain a running speed horse which ran at decreased speed and increased speed are 0,7714 ± 0,0988 and 0,3421 ± 0,2789, respectively. Indonesia Racehorse which has speed decreased could be recommended for sprint type horse while the increased speed horses could be recommended as long distance horse type.
