Penerapan good breeding practices sapi potong di PT lembu jantan perkasa Serang-Banten
Abstract
Cow-calf production is fundamental to the other cattle production system, i.e growing of stocker and cattle finishing. Good Breeding Practices (GBP) for beef cattle is important for breeding goal achievement that is producing breeding animal. The scope of GBP in beef cattle farming includes four aspects: facilities, cattle breeding, environmental protection and supervision. The study aimed to examine the Good Breeding Practices for beef cattle at PT Lembu Jantan Perkasa (LJP) in Serang -Banten. Descriptive analysis was used to review the breeding operation in PT LJP Serang-Banten. The breeding parameters observed were calving interval, service per conception, conception rate, and calving rate. The result showed that in general the company had applied well GBP in its operation. There were several aspects that should be considered to improve the GBP operation those site plant building and security, replacement stock, and animal health. Calving interval are 408 days in 2009 and 372 days in 2010. Service per conception are 1,6 in 2009 and 1,5 in 2010. Conception rate are 78% in 2009 and 88% in 2010 and calving rate are 23% in 2009 and 84% in 2010.
