dc.description.abstractOne of a real action to develope the livestock farming is an extension for the farmers in the rural area.Technical Consultant and Husbandary Health Pos Service is one of the extension agency which can help the farmers to develop their farm by extension activity. The Technical Consultant and Husbandary Health Pos Service success is determined by hard work of extension agents and the farmers roles. From this side Technical Consultant and Husbandary Health Pos Service gets input to improve their performance so that the Technical Consultant and Husbandary Health Pos Service can improve their role in the farm development. The aims of the study are 1) to know the sheep farmer internal and external factors, 2) to know the extension agent internal and external factors, 3) to know the factors that correlate to the role of extension agency, 4) to analyze the internal and external farmer and extension agent in relationship to extension agency. This study was conducted from 7rd October until 21rd November 2005. The population of the study is all the sheep farmers and extension agent in subdistrict of Caringin. As many of 70 farmers were taken as sample using simple random sampling method and three extension agents as respondents. This study uses primary and secondary data. This study designed as a descriptive correlation survey. The internal and external farmers and extension agents relationship to extension agency were analyzed by Rank Spearman. Most of the farmers are 37-50 years old, graduated from elementary school, have 6-15 years of farming experience, have 0-0,49 ST of sheeps, 0-0.3 Ha land, farmers have the main occupation as farmer, has additional occupation as sheep farmer and the income of farmer is ranging from Rp. 450.000 to Rp. 800.000 per month. The extension agents are 38, 43, and 44 years old, graduate from Academy and have 11-19 years experience and also get Rp.925.000-1.400.000 income per month. The sheep farmer internal factors (age, education level, farming experience, farm land, income, occupation) have significant correlation to the agency role and intensity of extension, meanwhile the sheep farmer external factors (economic of scale, the market share and government policy) have no significant correlation to the agency role and intensity of extension.en
