      Abstract

The transformation toward a cashless society has driven an increase in the intensity of cashless payment use, particularly among university students as the most active users. This is more complex for migrant students who manage their finances independently without parental supervision, potentially affecting their emergency fund management if not accompanied by adequate self-control. This study analyzed the effect of cashless payment usage intensity and self-control on emergency fund management among migrant students at IPB University. The study employed a quantitative approach with 215 active undergraduate respondents from batch 59-62, selected through purposive sampling and proportionate stratified sampling, analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). Both variables had a significant and positive effect on emergency fund management, with self-control being the more dominant predictor. These findings affirmed the importance of strengthening migrant students' financial self-control, supported by fund separation and monitoring features in cashless payment services.
