Bottled drinking water is water that has undergone processing, without the addition of any other food ingredients or food additives. Bottled drinking water must possess good quality, as it plays a critical role in safeguarding consumer safety. This research at PT XYZ aims to address the problem of packaging defects in 200 ml cup-packaged bottled drinking water through the application of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methods and a comparative analysis against SNI 3553:2023. The results indicate that the types of defects consist of thin cups (72%), dented cups (23%), and melted cups (5%). The primary causes were identified as non-conformance to SOPs, insufficient operator experience, and inaccurate material thickness specifications. Following the revision of the SOP and the implementation of operator training, the defect rate was successfully reduced, resulting in a more controlled production process. Laboratory testing confirmed that the quality of the water contained within the defective packaging still met SNI standards, although melted cups continued to carry a potential risk of long-term contamination.
