A RAHMANIYAH ASH-SHIDQI.
A RAHMANIYAH ASH-SHIDQI. Physiological Responses and Hematological Profiles of Local Male Rabbits to Road Transportation with Different Transportation Durations. Supervised by MUHAMAD BAIHAQI and EDIT LESA ADITIA. Road transportation is a potential stressor affecting rabbit welfare. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different transportation durations on physiological responses and hematological profiles of male local rabbits. Twenty-seven adult male local rabbits (6 months old; 1.97 ± 0.14 kg) were assigned to three treatments: no transportation (P0), 3 h transportation (P1), and 6 h transportation (P2). Heart rate, respiratory rate, rectal temperature, and hematological parameters, including erythrocytes, hemoglobin, PCV, and leukocyte profiles, were measured before and after transportation. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, Tukey’s test, and paired t-test at a 5% significance level. Transportation duration significantly affected heart rate and respiratory rate but did not affect rectal temperature or hematological parameters. In conclusion, 3 and 6 h of road transportation altered physiological responses but did not induce significant hematological changes in male local rabbits.
