      Abstract

The increasing production of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) requires the availability of high-quality seed through effective nursery practices. This study aimed to analyze the production performance and business feasibility of Nile tilapia nursery culture using probiotic-supplemented feed under different water management systems. The experiment was conducted for 42 days using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replicates: water exchange (GA), bioremediation (BR), and a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). Nile tilapia larvae were stocked at a density of 15 fish L?¹ and fed a commercial probiotic-supplemented diet to apparent satiation. The results showed that the RAS treatment produced the best production performance, with a survival rate of 78,56%, a feed conversion ratio (FCR) of 1.12, and a productivity of 94.3 ± 1.71 fish L?¹ year?¹. Water quality parameters in all treatments remained within the optimal range for Nile tilapia culture. Business analysis indicated that the RAS system generated the highest profit of IDR 77,255,842, the lowest production cost (HPP) of IDR 384.92 per fish, a payback period of 0.68 years, and an R/C 1.43. Therefore, RAS combined with probiotic feed was more effective in improving production performance and profitability of Nile tilapia nursery culture.
