      Perkembangan Embrio Ulat Sutra Eri (Samia cynthia ricini) dengan Variasi Lama Perendaman Etilen Glikol 1,5 Molar

      Abstract
      Ulat sutra eri (Samia cynthia ricini) merupakan komoditas persutraan potensial yang pengembangannya terkendala oleh masalah sinkronisasi siklus budidaya dan distribusi akibat pendeknya waktu penetasan telur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh variasi lama perendaman etilen glikol (EG) 1,5 M dan lama penyimpanan dingin terhadap perkembangan embrio, durasi penetasan, durasi penundaan penetasan, serta daya tetas telur ulat sutra eri. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial (RALF) 3×2 dengan tiga taraf lama perendaman EG (3, 5, dan 7 menit) dan dua taraf lama penyimpanan dingin (7 dan 10 hari). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penyimpanan dingin menyebabkan penundaan perkembangan embrio yang ditandai dengan keterlambatan fase embriogenesis. Semakin lama penyimpanan dingin, semakin panjang durasi penundaan penetasan. Perlakuan EG7-07 menghasilkan durasi penundaan terpanjang (7,75 hari) dengan daya tetas lebih tinggi (15,22%). Lama perendaman EG tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap daya tetas, sedangkan lama penyimpanan dingin berpengaruh nyata (p < 0,05). Terdapat trade-off antara keberhasilan retardasi dan viabilitas embrio, sehingga optimasi lama penyimpanan masih diperlukan.
       
      Eri silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini) is a promising product in sericulture, but its development is limited by challenges in synchronizing rearing cycles due to the short egg incubation period. This study investigated how different durations of ethylene glycol (EG) 1.5 M immersion (3, 5, and 7 minutes) and cold storage periods (7 and 10 days) affect embryo development, hatching time, hatch delay, and hatchability of eri silkworm eggs. A 3×2 factorial completely randomized design was used. Results indicated that cold storage slowed embryo development, delaying embryogenesis stages, with longer storage increasing both hatching and delay durations. The treatment with 7-minute EG 1.5 M immersion and 7-days cold storage (EG7-07) yielded the longest hatch delay and the highest hatchability rate at 15.22%. While EG immersion duration did not significantly affect hatchability, cold storage duration did (p < 0.05). There is a trade-off between successful retardation and embryo viability, highlighting the need for further optimization of storage time.
