dc.description.abstractProduksi sutra eri dipengaruhi oleh kondisi lingkungan, terutama suhu yang dapat menentukan keberhasilan pertumbuhan dan produktivitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis performa larva ulat sutra eri generasi kelima pada suhu lingkungan yang rendah. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan 180 telur pada suhu kontrol (24–26 °C) dan suhu rendah (16–18 °C) dengan tiga ulangan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t dan analisis deskriptif. Peubah yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan morfometrik, bobot larva, mortalitas, lama fase perkembangan, produktivitas kokon, dan keberhasilan imago. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa suhu rendah menurunkan panjang, lebar, bobot larva secara nyata, serta memperpanjang lamanya fase perkembangan hingga dua kali lipat dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Mortalitas meningkat pada suhu rendah, terutama pada instar akhir, meskipun masih tergolong rendah. Produksi kokon menurun, namun bobot kokon meningkat secara signifikan. Persentase keberhasilan imago lebih tinggi pada suhu rendah. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya trade-off antara kuantitas dan kualitas produksi, yang mengindikasikan bahwa larva masih mampu bertahan pada suhu yang suboptimal, dengan konsekuensi penurunan efisiensi produksi.
dc.description.abstractEri silkworm production is influenced by environmental conditions, temperature, which affects growth and productivity. This study aimed to analyze the performance of fifth-generation eri silkworm larvae under low temperature. An experimental design was used with 180 eggs reared at a control temperature (24–26 °C) and a low temperature (16–18 °C), with three replications. Data were analyzed using the t-test and descriptive analysis. Observed parameters included morphometric growth, larval weight, mortality, developmental duration, cocoon productivity, and emergence success. The results showed that low temperature significantly reduced larval length, width, and weight, and prolonged the developmental period by up to twice that of the control. Mortality increased at low temperatures, particularly in the final instar, although it remained relatively low. Cocoon production decreased, while cocoon weight significantly increased. The emergence rate was higher at low temperatures. These findings indicate a trade-off between production quantity and quality, suggesting that larvae can survive at suboptimal temperatures while maintaining reduced production efficiency.
