      Abstract

Indonesia has significant potential for silk industry development due to its tropical climate and the availability of host plants. The eri silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini) is a widely commercialized non-mulberry species that requires strains adaptable to environmental variation. This study aimed to analyze the effects of strain and rearing temperature on eri silkworm productivity. The experiment used a factorial Completely Randomized Design with Tukey’s test. Parameters observed included larval morphometrics, instar duration, mortality, cocoon production, and adult emergence. Results showed that temperature significantly affected most parameters, with normal temperature (25–27°C) resulting in more optimal growth, lower mortality, and higher cocoon production and adult emergence than high temperature (30–32°C). Strain had no significant effect, although Prasojo tended to show higher growth under optimal conditions. Therefore, temperature is the main factor influencing eri silkworm productivity.
