      Abstract

The increasing demand for energy and organic waste issues have driven the development of biogas as a renewable energy source. White rat waste has potential as a biogas substrate, but its utilization remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of M21 bioactivator addition on biogas production and quality. A completely randomized design with five treatments doses (0 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL, 150 mL, 200 mL) of M21 and three replications was used. Anaerobic fermentation was carried out for 21 days using a 30 L HDPE digester. Parameters observed included temperature, humidity, biogas volume, flame characteristics, and pH. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test (5%). Results showed that M21 addition significantly affected biogas production and quality. The best result was obtained at 50 mL, producing the highest biogas volume (5.75±0.07 mL) and best combustion quality. Based on the results of this study, the 50 mL dose of M21 was determined to be the optimum condition.
