The inability of emerging adulthood to cope with developmental tasks has an impact on the quarter-life crisis. The emerging adulthood phase that college students are about to enter indicates that they are at risk of experiencing a quarter-life crisis. Previous research has found that female college students are at a higher risk of experiencing a quarter-life crisis. This study aims to analyse the influence of maternal gatekeeping and paternal involvement on the quarter-life crisis of female college students. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design, and primary data were collected from 300 female college students aged 18–22 years through an online survey using voluntary sampling. Data were analysed using descriptive analysis, correlation tests, and structural equation modelling (SEM) using SmartPLS. The SEM results found that maternal gatekeeping directly influences female college students' quarter-life crisis, but no indirect effect through father involvement was found. This study indicates that female college students' quarter-life crisis is closely related to their perception of their mother's involvement of the father in parenting.
