      Abstract

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SLBD isolated from horse feces was found to contain antimicrobial compounds and had potential as a natural preservative. This study aimed to characterize the antibacterial properties of the extracellular fraction, evaluate and assess their thermal stability of its antibacterial activity. Extracellular fractions were collected from the lag phase (<10 hours), log phase (10–75 hours), and stationary phase (75–78 hours). Protein concentration and total protein were determined using the Lowry method. Antibacterial activity was tested against Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella typhi. The extracellular fraction from the logarithmic phase showed the highest antibacterial activity with a broad spectrum, exhibiting the largest inhibition zones, especially against S. typhi (9,40 mm) and E. coli (8,46 mm). Logarithmic phase fraction remained stable up to 100 °C, with a significant increase in activity against S. typhi at higher temperatures. The lowest IC50 value was found for S. aureus (38,979 µg mL-1), indicating strong inhibitory potential.
