dc.description.abstractKetebalan lemak kulit berhubungan erat dengan keseimbangan energi pada sapi dan mempengaruhi nilai body condition score (BCS) yang dipicu oleh cekaman panas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara ketebalan lemak kulit dengan BCS sapi perah peranakan FH (PFH). Tujuh area ketebalan lemak kulit yaitu leher (x1), dada (x2), tulang rusuk (x3), perut (x4), pelvis (x5), pangkal ekor (x6), paha belakang (x7) di ukur menggunakan digital body fat caliper. BCS diukur pada sembilan titik sesuai dengan metode penilaian BCS Edmonson. Data dianalisis statistik uji korelasi Pearson dan regresi stepwise menggunakan perangkat lunak SPSS 27. Skor BCS total sapi PFH hanya berhubungan signifikan pada tebal lemak di area x6, x3, x5, dan x1. Tebal lemak area x6 paling banyak berkorelasi dengan nilai BCS pada delapan titik spesifik di ikuti area x3. Persamaan regresi yang mempercayakan pada x6 sebagai variabel prediktor terbanyak untuk memprediksi BCS pada delapan titik, diikuti oleh x3. Tebal lemak area pangkal ekor (x6) dapat dijadikan sebagai titik area tubuh prioritas untuk mengevaluasi BCS pada ternak PFH yang dipelihara di dataran rendah tropis dengan terpapar cekaman panas sedang, di ikuti area tulang rusuk (x3).
dc.description.abstractSkin fat thickness is closely related to energy balance in cattle and affects body condition score (BCS) values induced by heat stress. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between skin fat thickness and BCS of FH (PFH) dairy cows. Seven areas of skin fat thickness namely neck (x1), chest (x2), ribs (x3), abdomen (x4), pelvis (x5), tailhead (x6), hamstrings (x7) were measured using a digital body fat caliper. BCS was measured at nine points according to Edmonson's BCS scoring method. Data were statistically analyzed by Pearson correlation test and stepwise regression using SPSS 27 software. Total BCS score of PFH cattle was only significantly related to fat thickness in areas x6, x3, x5, and x1. Fat thickness of area x6 correlated most with BCS scores at eight specific points followed by area x3. The regression equation relied on x6 as the most predictor variable to predict BCS at eight points, followed by area x3. The fat thickness of the tail base area tailhead (x6) can be used as a priority body area point to evaluate BCS in PFH cattle raised in tropical lowlands with moderate heat stress exposure, followed by the rib area (x3).
