Long-distance road transportation can cause physiological stress that affects the welfare and blood metabolism of bali cattle. This study aimed analyze changes in the blood profile of male bali cattle resulting from transportation over a distance of approximately ±1,258 km for ±52 hours. A total of 10 male bali cattle with an average body weight of 312.2±24.1 kg were used in this study. Blood samples were collected two days before and six hours after transportation via the jugular vein and analyzed using spectrophotometric methods. Data were analyzed using a paired ttest. The results showed an increase in glucose levels from 78.70±10.92 to 80.39±5.60 mg/dL, creatinine levels from 1.74±0.23 to 2.04±0.27 mg/dL, total protein levels from 7.83±0.38 to 7.97±0.42 g/dL, and a decrease in albumin levels from 3.61±0.15 to 3.57±0.17 g/dL. Only the increase in creatinine was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Temperature humidity index (THI) analysis indicated mild to moderate stress conditions during the transportation. In conclusion, long-distance road transportation impacts the blood metabolite profile of bali cattle, highlighting the need for improved transport management to ensure animal welfare.
