      Kualitas Kokon Ulat Sutra Eri (Samia cynthia ricini) Galur Progo dan Joglo pada Pemeliharaan di Kondisi Optimum

      Abstract
      Industri tekstil turut menyumbang devisa dan produksi nasional. Industri tekstil menggunakan serat alam sebagai salah satu bahan baku, diantaranya adalah serat sutra. Kain sutra terbuat dari benang yang dihasilkan dari pengolahan kokon ulat sutra. Ulat sutra non-murbei yang baru ini berkembang di Indonesia yaitu ulat sutra eri (Samia cynthia ricini). Galur progo dan joglo merupakan galur baru S.c. ricini yang dibentuk menggunakan metode seleksi dan cocok dipelihara di iklim tropis seperti Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas kokon ulat sutra S.c. ricini galur progo dan joglo pada pemeliharaan di kondisi optimum. Parameter yang diukur diantaranya suhu dan kelembapan lingkungan, konsumsi pakan, karakteristik kokon, morfometrik kokon, dan kualitas kokon. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa galur ulat sutra S.c. ricini yang berbeda menghasilkan kualitas kokon yang berbeda. Galur progo memiliki karakteristik kokon yang lebih unggul yang tercermin pada produksi kokon, bobot kokon utuh, bobot floss, bobot kulit kokon, dan bobot pupa.yang lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan galur joglo.
       
      The textile industry contributes to foreign exchange and national production. The textile industry uses natural fibers as raw materials, including silk. Silk fabrics are made from threads produced by processing silkworm cocoons. The non-mulberry silkworm recently developed in Indonesia is the eri silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini). the progo and joglo strains are new strains of S.c. ricini that have undergone a selection process and are suitable for rearing in tropical climates such as Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the cocoon quality of S.c. ricini from two strains, namely progo and joglo strains. Parameters that have been measured were temperature and humidity of the environment, feed consumption, cocoon characteristics, cocoon morphometry, and cocoon quality. The data were analyzed using T-test. The results showed that the strain differences of S.c. ricini can affect the quality of the cocoon produced. The progo strain has better cocoon production, intact cocoon weight, floss weight, cocoon skin weight, and pupa weight.
