      Abstract

Maggot is the larvae of the black soldier fly which contains high enough nutrients so that it can be used as an alternative feed for livestock. Maggot cultivation can be done using media containing organic matter. The selection of media must pay attention to the nutritional content it contains because it affects the productivity of the maggot produced. This study aims to analyze the productivity of maggot with the influence of different live media. This study use a completely randomized design (RAL) with 3 treatments and 4 replications with Duncan’s further test. The media used were restaurant waste, coconut dregs and rice bran. The observed variables were maggot weight, length, media temperature, media humidity and media pH. The results showed that the use of different live media had a significant (P<0,05) effect to maggot productivity. The use of restaurant waste media produces a maggot weight of about 3,07 kg and a maggot length of about 1,90 cm. The use of coconut dregs media resulted in a maggot weight of about 2,42 kg and a maggot length of about 1,40 cm. The use of rice bran media produces in a maggot weight of about 2,05 kg and a maggot length of about 1,08 cm.
