      Abstract

Spirulina platensis is one of microalgae that can produce saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Extraction of S. platensis oil have been done in various methods. The aim of this research was to analyze and compare the oil extraction methods such as soxhlet, ultrasound assisted extraction, microwave assisted extraction, and supercritical CO2 regarding of its yield and fatty acids profile. The result showed that the highest oil yield obtained by Supercritical CO2 which was 9.36%, and the lowest oil yield obtained by soxhlet method 2.25%. However, the highest total fatty acids was obtained by Supercritical CO2 was 100%. Therefore, those methods resulted the highest purity of Spirulina oil.
