      Abstract

Crossing of merawang and arab chickens aims to improve genetic quality that better than their parents. Feed cost is the largest component of total production cost. The use of local feed ingredients can be an alternative to reduce production costs. The study aimed to evaluate the response of the fourth generation merawangarab chickens on different feeds. This study used carcasses of the results of crossing elders who have a genetic composition of 50% merawang 50% arab. The data were analyzed using t test of nine samples by three types feeding treatment. The feeding treatment were P1 = 60% commercial feed 40% rice bran, P2 = 80% commercial feed 60% rice bran, and P3 = 100% commercial feed. The result of the crosses were evaluated the cut weight and the quantitative properties of the carcass. The result of the evaluation showed that treatment P1, P2, and P3 had cut weight, carcass, commercial carcass cut, carcass component, and non-carcass were not significantly different (P>0,05). The distribution of edible composition on commercial cut of the chest, upper thigh, and lower thigh varied. Replacement of some commercial feed with 40% rice bran had a higher total meat weight than 20% rice bran.
