      Recommendations for Quality Improvement of Primed Door Product Using Six Sigma Method at PT XYZ

      Abstract
      Competition is getting tougher and makes the company have to keep making improvements. One of the company's improvements is a quality improvement, such as reducing the incidence of defective products. Based on the observations made, it was found that various defective products on primed doors at PT XYZ could be caused by deviations in machine performance, raw materials, methods, and labour. The research objectives are identifying the production process that causes defects in the product, calculating the sigma level of the primed door, and providing suggestions for improvements. This research was conducted using the six sigma method of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve stages. Based on primed door rework data from January to March 2021, it was found that a total defects are 3218 units out of 31881 overall. Transparent, step, and striped are the biggest types of damage to primed doors, with total damage respectively 1901, 672, and 268. Based on the sigma level calculation, PT XYZ is at level 3 with an average of 3.55 from January to March 2021. This shows PT XYZ has a performance above the industry average in Indonesia.
       
      Persaingan yang semakin ketat membuat perusahaan harus terus melakukan perbaikan. Salah satu perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan oleh perusahaan adalah perbaikan mutu seperti mengurangi timbulnya produk cacat. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan, ditemukan berbagai produk cacat pada pintu primed di PT XYZ. Hal ini dapat disebabkan oleh penyimpangan pada kinerja mesin, bahan baku, metode, serta tenaga kerja. Tujuan penelitian di PT XYZ adalah mengidentifikasi proses produksi yang menyebabkan cacat pada produk, menghitung tingkat sigma pintu primed, dan memberikan saran untuk perbaikan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode six sigma tahapan Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve. Berdasarkan data rework pintu primed dari bulan Januari sampai Maret 2021 ditemukan total cacat sebesar 3218 dari total keseluruhan 31881. Transparan, step dan bergaris merupakan jenis kerusakan terbesar pada pintu primed dengan total kerusakan secara berturut turut adalah 1901, 672 dan 268. Berdasarkan perhitungan tingkat sigma, PT XYZ berada pada tingkat 3 dengan rata-rata 3.55 pada Januari sampai Maret 2021. Hal tersebut menunjukkan PT XYZ memiliki performance diatas rata-rata industri di Indonesia.
