The objective of this research was to know the growth pattern from local sheep in population based on body weight and body measurements. This research has been done from July up to August 2007 at UP3J. Local sheep based on sex (159 males and 330 females) was identified by teeth to classify their age such as birth to weaning (2 months), weaning to 12 months of age, I1, I2, I3, I4 and I5. Variables in this research were body weight and body measurements such as wither height, body length, chest width, chest circumference and chest depth. Data obtained were analyzed using t-student test to compare average body weight and body measurement based on sex, Pearson correlation was used to measure relationship between body weight and body measurements. Minitab V. 14 package program was used to analyze the data. The result showed that the growth rate on fast from conception to birth and to puberty. At puberty period, the growth rate started to slow down until the age of maturity was reashed. The highest score found by Pearson correlation in male pre weaning was 0,958 between body weight and chest circumference, whereas in female pre weaning was 0,962 between body weight and chest depth.en
