      Abstract

The need for Corydoras fish is increasing in line with population growth and demand. Currently the fish that is in great demand is Corydoras paleatus. This type of fish has been widely cultivated in Indonesia but its productivity is still low. This study aimed to determine the optimal stocking density in the cultivation of Corydoras paleatus with 30% water change every day. The study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were stocking density, namely 500 m-2, 1000 m-2, 1500 m-2, and 2000 m-2. Fish rearing was carried out in 12 aquariums measuring 50 cm × 30 cm × 25 cm each and filled with 30 L of water. During the maintenance period, the fish fed Tubifex sp. done at 08.00 and 16.00 WIB and water changes by 30% daily. The results showed that the treatment of stocking density had a significant effect on survival, specific growth rate, daily growth rate, absolute length growth, and feed efficiency parameters, but did not have a significant effect on length variability coefficient. The stocking density that resulted in the best production performance and business feasibilty was 2000 m-2. Keywords: corydoras
