| dc.description.abstract | One of the advantages in sheep breeding is having a prolific characteristic which does not always have a huge benefits for the farmer because it has a negative impact such as high rate of mortality at pre weaning. Milk replacer or milk substitute is a solution for this problem. Several types of materials that could potentially be used as a milk replacer is pupae meal and also cicada meal which have high protein content. This research was aimed at improving the performance of sheep supplemented with milk replacer containing pupae meal and cricket meal. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD). Twelve post partus lambs with body weight ranged from 2.0-2.5 kg, were used and divided into 4 treatments with 3 replications. The treatments were P0 (lambs given sheep's milk), P1 (lambs given cow's milk), P2 (lambs given milk replacer containing cricket meal) and P3 (lambs given milk replacer containing pupae meal). The provision of three types of milk replacer on this research were not able to improve the performance pre-weaning lambs, but the pupae meal and cicada meal can still be used as materials for milk replacer. | id |
