dc.description.abstractPineapple planting at Great Giant Pineapple Company is still done manually with low capacity and poor planting results. Therefore, a pineapple transplanting machine has been designed, constructed and tested. The machine was designed to be able to plant pineapple suckers in one row per pass, having 25 cm planting space, 10 cm planting depth, and powered by a four wheel tractor. Design and test results of some main parts of the machine, including: planting furrow opener, covering disk and press wheel, were discussed in this thesis. Those parts were designed based on field condition and planting standard as field conditions. A shoe type furrow opener was designed to be able to make planting furrow of 15 cm width and 10 cm depth. A pair of covering disk of 25 cm diameter was set behind the furrow opener for covering the lower part of the planted suckers by soil. A pair of press wheel of 30 cm diameter was set behind the covering disk for firming the soil to the plant. The test results showed that the average furrow depth was 14 cm, the furrow and suckers could be covered well by soil, and the covering soil could be firmed with the soil bulk density of 0.78 kg/cm3.en
