      Abstract
      The purpose of this study were to examine the amount of mechanical damage of yellow passion fruit in each package after transportation simulation, to study the effect of filler materials to the damage of those yellow passion fruit during transportation, and to determine the best among used filler materials for yellow passion fruit transportation. There were five packages used in this study which consist of four packages for treatment and one package for control. The four treatment packages were package with: shredded paper filler, wrapping paper filler, rice straw filler, and dried banana leaves filler. All of the packaged were simulated on the road (frequency 3.38 Hz, amplitude 4.04 cm for vertical vibration, during 154 minutes). It can be concluded that the yellow passion fruit packaged by wrapping paper filler only has a lowest mechanical damage, so this package method should be a good filler material of package for the distribution transportation of yellow passion fruit in carton.
       
      Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan nilai kerusakan mekanis buah markisa kuning di setiap perlakuan setelah simulasi transportasi, menentukan pengaruh bahan pengisi kemasan terhadap kerusakan mekanis pada buah markisa kuning selama transportasi, dan menentukan bahan pengisi yang terbaik dari berbagai bahan pengisi kemasan yang digunakan selama transportasi buah markisa kuning. Ada lima perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan untuk dengan bahan pengisi dan satu perlakuan untuk control (tanpa bahan pengisi). Keempat perlakuan adalah: pengisi potongan kertas, pembungkus kertas, jerami, dan daun pisang kering. Semua perlakuan dilakukan simulasi transportasi (frekuensi 3.38 Hz , amplitudo 4.04 cm, selama 154 menit). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa buah markisa kuning yang dikemas dengan bahan pengisi kertas pembungkus memiliki kerusakan mekanis terendah, sehingga bahan pengisi tersebut merupakan bahan pengisi terbaik untuk transportasi buah markisa kuning dalam kemasan karton.
