Numerical simulation for predicting performance of downdraft – coconut husk/coir gasifier

dc.description.abstractCoconut husk/coir is a waste of agriculture field (coconut plantation) which rarely utilized in renewable energy. Coconut husk/coir is potential for used as gasification material/feedstock for generating combustible gas (CO, H2, and CH4). Mathematical modeling and numerical simulation on thermodynamic equilibrium model is developed for predicting gas composition generated in various moisture content and equivalence ratio (ER). Results of model are compared with experimental results. Results of comparison is quite close and satisfactory with RMS error 2.44% and R2 0.885. Results of simulation show that on increasing of moisture content each 5% will take effect average increasing of percentage of H2 0.67%, CO2 0.79%, and CH4 0.04%, and average decreasing of temperature 68.62 K, percentage of CO 2.00%, and N2 0.33%. Results of simulation also show that on increasing of ER will take effect average decreasing of H2 2.03%, CO 2.31%, and CH4 0.68%, and average increasing of temperature 165.74 K, percentage of CO2 0.52%, dan N2 4.56%.en
