dc.description.abstractThis study aims to analyze the internal and external factors of a Federated Farmers Group (FFG) and to formulate the priority alternative strategies for the development of FFG. The research was conducted in March 2013 with five respondents of horticultural FFG named "Gapoktan Karya Bersama" which is located in Dairi, North Sumatera. The methods used are IE, SWOT, and QSP matrixes. The IE matrix showed that the position of Gapoktan Karya Bersama was located in the second cell of “grow and build”. The applicable strategies are intensive and integrative strategies. Based on SWOT matrix, alternative development strategies were formulated and then with QSP matrix, six priority strategies were chosen. The priority strategy that is recommended to be implemented by Gapoktan Karya Bersama is co-operating with Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Dairi, Agricultural Extension Officer, input supplier and traders.en
