dc.description.abstractTo maintain digestive health of livestock, ruminant’s feed should be led to the engineering of rumen function through manipulation of the chemical composition and role of microorganisms. Hence, there is a need for feed additive which can stimulate the growth and activity of rumen microbes such as probiotics. This experimental aim was to study the effect of solid and liquid probiotic supplementation on digestibility of nutrients of beef cattle ration. This study used 18 head of beef cattle. The treatments applied were: P1: Control (rice straw + canebud + concentrate + rice bran), P2: P1 + solid probiotic 0.25% (w/w of concentrate), P3: P1 + liquid probiotic 0.10% (v/w of concentrate and was mixed with drinking water). Results showed that probiotic supplementation significantly affected dry matter, crude fiber and crude protein digestibilities. Liquid probiotic supplementation can stimulate the growth and activity of rumen microbes better than solid probiotic. The increase in rumen microbial population and activity can increase nutrient digestibilities of beef cattle rations. However, liquid probiotics produced a better effect than solid probiotics.en
dc.description.abstractUntuk menjaga kesehatan pencernaan ternak, pakan ternak ruminansia perlu mengarah pada rekayasa fungsi rumen melalui manipulasi komposisi kimia dan peran mikroorganisme. Penggunaan feed additive, probiotik, diharapkan mampu menstimulasi pertumbuhan dan aktivitas mikroba rumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh suplementasi probiotik padat dan cair di dalam ransum terhadap kecernaan zat-zat makanan pada sapi potong. Penelitian menggunakan 18 ekor sapi potong. Perlakuan yang diberikan, yaitu: P1 : Kontrol (jerami padi + pucuk tebu+konsentrat+dedak padi), P2 : P1+ Probiotik padat 0.25% (b/b konsentrat), P3 : P1 + Probiotik cair 0.1% (b/v konsentrat dan dicampur ke dalam air minum). Hasil sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa pemberian suplementasi probiotik cair berbeda nyata terhadap kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan serat kasar dan kecernaan protein kasar. Suplementasi probiotik cair dalam air minum sapi dapat menstimulasi pertumbuhan dan aktivitas mikroba rumen. Dengan meningkatnya populasi dan aktivitas mikroba rumen dapat meningkatkan kecernaan zat-zat makanan ransum sapi potong.
