Sustainable Livelihood Systems of Households. (Case in Mine PT Arutmin Indonesia Area on the Village Dukuhrejo, Subdistrict Mantewe, Distric Tanah Bumbu South Kalimantan)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the household livelihood strategy in the village of Dukuhrejo. In addition, to find out how far activities of the respondent can build sustainable livelihood systems for households in the village of Dukuhrejo. This study uses a quantitative approach that is supported by qualitative data. Quantitative data obtained through a questionnaire to 40 household activities who were respondents in this study. While the qualitative approach was done through observation, dept interviews, and search related documents or literary study. The sources of livelihoods were found in the village Dukuhrejo. That are cultivation of agriculture dry land, logging in the forest, oil palm, stall of business, coal mining, informal sector trade, construction services, and education services. That are giving the impacts or the influence of the structure a living community of Dukuhrejo village. The livelihood strategies were used with the household in the village of Dukuhrejo that are single livelihood and straddle activity (dual livelihood and multi livelihood). Looking the fact that happens in the village of Dukuhrejo on the activities of logging in the forest and coal mining in the framework of sustainable livelihood systems was lead to unsustainable livelihood. Because of that livelihood depend on the availability. The physical landscape and water system in the local area has been changed. The most evident impact was felt in the community of Dukuhrejo village were water pollution (especially turbidity) and floods in the rainy season.

Desa Dukuhrejo merupakan daerah transmigrasi yang arealnya relatif luas, terletak di pedalaman, dikelilingi oleh kawasan tambang batubara dan kawasan hutan. Sejarah desa mencatat bahwa 15 tahun yang lalu masyarakat Desa Dukuhrejo menggantungkan hidupnya pada bidang pertanian. Akan tetapi kemudian bergeser menjadi penebang kayu hutan dan penambang batubara, yang mengakibatkan eksploitasi pada sumberdaya tambang dan hutan bergeser menjadi nafkah utama penduduk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur nafkah rumah tangga Desa Dukuhrejo terkait dengan sumber nafkah yang ada, mengetahui strategi nafkah rumah tangga Desa Dukuhrejo terkait dengan struktur nafkah yang ada, serta untuk menelaah keberlanjutan nafkah rumah tangga Desa Dukuhrejo terkait dengan sumber, struktur, dan strategi nafkah yang terjadi. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut digunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan kuesioner didukung dengan data kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan penulusuran dokumen yang terkait dengan pembahasan. Pendekatan kuantitatif ditujukan untuk 40 responden yang diperoleh dengan metode purposive (secara sengaja) yaitu dengan memilih secara sengaja 40 rumah tangga yang bekerja sebagai petani, penebang kayu hutan, dan penambang batubara dari 300 kerangka sampling.
