dc.description.abstract | Aeromonas hydrophila infection is one of problem causes Motile Aeromonad Septicaemia (MAS). In this study, diets containing aloe extract (5 ppt, 10 ppt and 20 ppt) as immunostimulant was applied to prevent MAS disease in Clarias sp. Dosages of Aloe vera extract added in the commercial diets were 5, 10, and 20 ppt. Experimental fish were fed daily for 7 days prior to challenge tests. Clinical signs were observed everyday after the challenge tests, whereas the haematological tests were observed at 2, 4, 8 days post infections. The results showed that diets containing 5, 10 and 20 ppt of aloe extract reduced the mortality and clinical signs of wounds compared to those of control fish. However among the dosages were statistically not different. Fish haematology showed no spesific trends at different dosages which represented by values of lymphocyte, monocyte, thrombocyte, haemoglobine as well as the phagocytic index. | en |
